Council Mission Statement:
The St. Vincent de Paul Pastoral Council is advisory to our pastor and representative of our parish family. It exists to discern and promote a vision that enhances the mission of our parish.
Job Description
Objectives:
- To represent the parish and advise the pastor
- To grow the relationship of our parish members with Jesus
- To discern issues, create vision, provide ongoing direction and advance our parish mission
- To promote stewardship as the way to wholeness and holiness for our parish family
Ways to achieve objectives:
- Prayer
- Model Community
- Participate in spiritual enrichment
- Participate in parish life
- Establish committees or task forces as needed
- Receive and evaluate information from committees and parish groups
- Discernment
Main Duties:
- Strive for Community within the Council
- Attend meetings and council functions
- Actively participate in discussion
- Cooperate with and assist the pastoral staff
- Listen, be available for input from parishioners
- Study / review information provided for meetings
Qualifications / Characteristics:
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude
- Well respected / seen as a leader
- Cares for people / likes to help
- Receptive to new ideas
- Rooted in faith
- Knows mission of the parish and pastoral council
Time Commitment:
- Four year term
- Monthly meeting (1st or 2nd Tuesday of the month 7:30 - 9:30 PM)
- Yearly retreat
- Revolving chair duties
- Welcoming dinners (3 - 4 times per year)
- Parish Picnic
