Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver a hot, nutritious meal to homebound seniors.
Inadequate nutrition and safety are two primary reasons many people move into nursing homes. Seniors prefer to live in their own homes for as long as possible. More than just a meal, the program provides a friendly, familiar face. Family members and friends know that when they cannot check up on their loved ones, the Meals on Wheels volunteer will be there for them.
Volunteers from St. Vincent deliver meals to the elderly on Saturday/Sunday, two consecutive weekends, about four times per year. A notice is put in the bulletin to ask for volunteers when rotation comes up. Valid drivers license is required. Routes are set in advance and deliveries are set based on location proximity. Volunteers have approximately six to ten meals to deliver. For more information, contact parish office.
